A Student visa allows applicants to study at a CRICOS approved Institution. There are opportunities for a Student visa extension. This means if the applicant would like to continue study or may also need to extend their current visa for academic matters. The student visa sub classes are much simpler.
500 Student Visa and 590 Student Guardian Visa.
Conditions of a Student visa
- Must be enrolled in a cricos approved course of study
- Must have Health cover arrangements (continuous) from the day they arrive in Australia to their visa end date.
- If under 18 years of age, must have welfare arrangements
Note – International students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week or 40 hours per fortnight.
A SSVF framework was established and implemented (Simplified Student Visa Framework). It has been designed to make the process easier for students, aim to approve more genuine students while a targeted approach to assist with immigration integrity.
If accepted in a cricos registered course, after acceptance and payment of tuition fees and OSHC Health cover, the Institution will issue applicants with an eCOE Electronic Confirmation of Enrollment. This eCOE, is reported through institutions to Government. It is important that applicants keep this document and record relevant dates.
